About the Author

Patricia Hanlon lives with her husband, Robert, in West Gloucester, Massachusetts, at the edge of the Great Marsh, the largest continuous stretch of salt marsh left in New England. As a visual artist, she has painted this beautiful, edgy, ecosystem. In Swimming to the Top of the Tide, she has switched to narrative mode, focusing on story of the marsh—its past, present and possible futures. The Hanlons have three grown children and four grandchildren.
